CBC News recently reported about the intriguing way in which WorksafeBC sought to investigate an injured person and deny his claim for compensation. The story quotes Ms. Janet Patterson, who works in the area of worker’s compensation and labour law. She says: “This type of decision — denying the obvious — causes immense hardship for injured workers and their families; it effectively shifts the burden of proof onto them, while taking away any financial, medical or moral support that the Board could offer.”
